Written and directed by Sean Penn this is an excellent film about Christopher McCandless and his rejection of his middle class, suburban life and feuding parents.
After graduation he gives his life savings to Oxfam, cuts up all his bank cards and spends two years backpacking around the USA before heading for Alaska.
An intelligent, likeable guy he forms strong relationships with people along the way, a woman treats him like her son , a teenage girl falls in love with him and an old man who has lost his family wants to adopt him but he always leaves, to follow his big adventure and go to Alaska.
The film is beautifully shot with brilliant performances from Emile Hirsch as McCandless and particularly Hal Holbrook (who is 83!) as Ron Franz.
