Hughenden

While K is away on her tour Emma and I are heading off to Oxford for a few days. On the way down we stopped at a National Trust property called Hughenden which was Benjamin Disraeli’s House.

It’s a beautiful property with a fascinating wartime history. In 2004 a volunteer overheard a visitor explaining to his grandson that he had worked at the house during the war. The volunteer asked him what he used to do and it turned out the house was home to top secret map making operation and a number of people were stationed there producing maps for the war effort.

The trust has now fully researched the history and there is a permanent exhibition demonstrating what they used to do.
