Solomon Islands Earthquake

Last week a massive earthquake struck the Solomon Islands. The resulting tsunami wiped at least thirteen villages and thousands were left homeless. On some islands, waves 10 metres high swept away villages and a hospital.

The earthquake was so severe it lifted an island, Ranongga, 3 metres causing beaches to be extended by up to nearly 70 metres and exposing Coral reef. more on this

Rannonga

Villagers walk on a beach behind a coral reef, 07 April 2007, which was exposed by the force of the 8.0 magnitude earthquake which lifted the Solomons’ island of Ranongga three metres (10 ft).

What I find shocking is that there has been virtually no coverage of this is in the British media. Instead all we have had this week is endless whinging on whether or not the serviceman arrested by Iran should have been allowed to sell there story and who is the father of some washed up dead models off spring.
