K picked me up from work at Saturday lunchtime and we headed straight off on the 6 hour drive to Kirkby Lonsdale. We arrived at about 7pm to the rain slicked streets of Kirby Lonsdale. It’s a really delightful town to see at Christmas as most of the houses and shops in the centre of town have small Christmas trees attached at first floor level and it looks amazing.
The cottage was lovely, really cosy and in a great location overlooking the Graveyard.
On Christmas Eve we went to the nativity service. The church was packed and we all had a good sing song which can never fail to make you feel a bit Christmassy and then we popped up to the Orange tree pub for a pint.
Christmas Day was lovely, just really chilled. On Boxing Day we went for a walk up Scout Scar from Brigsteer near Sizergh Castle. The weather was really nice and it wasn’t until were about halfway round we realised we had done the walk before!
We spent the rest week relaxing the weather was pretty wet but we were able to get out most days apart from Wednesday when it absolutely poured but we just pottered around the town and dossed about. On Friday we drove up to Kentmere and did a walk along the valley. Again, it rained a bit and it was too windy to go up the hills but the walk along the valley was really good. It was just great to be up in the lakes.
We had to head home on Saturday, and we had planned to pop in and see Ol but Jo is over from Australia at the moment and she arranged to get everyone together at the Plough and Flail at Mobberly. So we stopped off there and got to see all my cousins and Aunts and Uncles. There was 26 of us in all and it was great too see everybody.
