Bletchley Park

Al & I had a fantastic day at Bletchley Park. It was absolutely fascinating to learn all about the code-breakers who deciphered the ciphers generated by the German Enigma and Lorenz machines.
I was also fascinated to read about Alan Turing who not only devised the method of the bombe, a machine which could find the settings for Enigma machine. But also, after the war, went on to present a paper which was the first detailed design of a stored-program computer.

The picture above is the face of a full size statue of Turing entirely made of slate.
