Based in Mississippi in the 1960’s this is the story of Skeeter who wants to be a journalist she decides to write a controversial book from the point of view of the black maids, exposing the racism they are faced with as they work for white families.
When I first saw the trailer for this film I thought it might be a bit cute and cheesy but actually it really demonstrates the inequality and just how awful the white society were at that time. Its an excellent film, with fantastic performances by all the actresses I’m sure that some of them will be nominated at next years Oscars.
