Had an amazing drive up the West Cost and up to Abel Tasman. We stopped off at Pancake Rocks on the way. It was fascinating but it was low tide so we didn’t see the blowhole in action.
We arrived in Mortueka on Friday night and having only had short stops for a few days we just hung out on Saturday. Sunday, we didn’t get out until late because Emma had made friends with two girls and we were chatting to their parents, Julie and Dan, for about two hours, a really nice Kiwi couple who live in Nelson.
In the afternoon we went to the beach at Kateir and had a gorgeous bay to our selves for most of the afternoon.
Monday we had booked to go kayaking but unfortunately we couldn’t go as the company felt it was too windy 🙁
Able Tasman’s coastline is only accessible on foot or by boat, its got 99 beaches in coves and bays so we booked a water taxi which dropped us off at this incredibly beautiful bay called Anchorage Bay. We spent the day exploring the rainforest, another bay and hanging out on the beach. It was amazing. In the evening we stayed at this really cool campsite in Marahau. and had a gorgeous meal out at local café.
When we got back it was only 8pm so we joined some girls who had lit the fire, they really nice, they even shared their marshmallows. We sat with them drinking wine and watching stars which were so bright we could even see the Milky Way.
A great day.
