Picton – Marlborough Sounds

Arrived in Picton Last night and today we started to explore the Marlborough Sounds. A beautiful area of bays, inlets and islands. Large parts are only accessible by boat so today we got a boat to Lochmara lodge which has access to the Queen Charlotte track animals to see, a superb café, and also kayaking so it ticked the boxes for all three of us.

I went and walked the Queen Charlotte track for a couple of hours and it was so good to get out for a good hike. The views were amazing and although I got rained on on the way back I really enjoyed it. Lots of people hike the track and stay at these dead posh lodges on the way. K and I have promised ourselves we’ll come back and do the whole path one day.

We also had our first go at Kayaking, it was great although a bit wobbly at first!
