I find infrastructure fascinating, and today I was really interested to hear an interview with Bradley Garrett on the Saturday Live Program on R4.
Garrett has been involved with and has written a book about the London Consolidation Crew (LCC), a group of urban explorers calling themselves “Place Hackers”. These guys get into closed buildings such as the Shard, closed down tube stations and the Mail Rail.
The Mail Rail is a 6.5 mile underground Railway which was used to transport mail in-between 8 sorting offices in London from 1927 until 2003 when it was closed as it was deemed too expensive too run.
Space Hacking site. I would love to go down to see that, the old tube stations, the New Crossrail project and bizarrely I would like to see the old Victorian sewers!
