Came across this link from Kottke pointing to a collection of photos showing how the previous Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg and his team changed some of the streets in the City. As Kottke quite rightly says “Constructing our cities around cars is one of the biggest mistakes of the 20th century and we’re still paying for it.” and it shows how socially damaging it has been to give so much space to cars in our cities.
