Weekend away challenge : 1 Norwich

This year, we have given ourselves a challenge to get away for a weekend a month. Through the colder months we will probably stay in a Premier Inn or a B&b and when it’s warmer, camp. If we are on hols that will count towards the challenge and So far we are booked up until March.

This weekend we went to Norwich. We haven’t been for about 20 years so it was a whole new experience. The city is really nice. Quaint little streets with plenty of individual shops, pubs and restaurants.

Saturday, we did some shopping and had lunch at the Moorish Falafel bar the we went to the Cathedral which is amazing.

In the Evening we went to the Wig &Pen a good traditional pub where I had a huge steak & ale pie (yum!)

Sunday we went for really nice walk I found in a book called “Urban Rambles” by Nicholas Rudd-Jones. It took us on the riverside path around the city centre and then out to the Rosary Cemetery through Lion Wood and on for a spot of lunch at Cafe Britannia which was a great cafe housed in Victorian barracks looking out over the city.

As we started to drive out of the city Emma spotted a starling murmaration we had never seen one before, we pulled over and watched it for ages until it was nearly dark it was fantastic.

  1. We’re definitely going to go to Norwich after our camping trip in May, it looks lush!
