Based on the true story of Dieter Diegler who was shot down and captured in Laos during the Vietnam war. Eventually, he organised an escape with some other captives.
Its a good film, directed by Werner Herzog who made a documentary about Diegler. Herzog has made sure the film sticks closely to the original story and it is for this reason that the film is perhaps a little bit slow in places. That said though, its well worth a watch and it as an amazing story of the torture he endured (being hung upside down with an ants nest on your face), virtually starving in the forest, and Dieglers determination to survive.
