(sadly, not my picture)
On a recent early morning walk I was able to record two Great Spotted Woodpeckers who were chipping away at the old oak trees in the wood near us. It was great to watch them as they seemed to be communicating with each other as they pecked at the trees. It was almost as if one of them seemed to be experimenting with the different pitches it got as it pecked at the branches as if it was playing a giant instrument.
So here it is, a mini soundscape of the Woodpeckers, recorded in the wood in Long Meadow. You can also here some other birds and a family in the distance, sorry about my shuffling – Must be quiet!
