Having lived in our house for many years, I am ashamed to admit, that we have never renovated our bedroom. last year, during the loft conversion part of the ceiling collapsed and I did A very rudimentary repair and just slapped slapped a bit of plasterboard over the hole.
We have only decorated the room a couple of times. The last time around 2007, we splashed a bit of paint up but that was it. In our defence though, we have renovated the rest of the house. So, now, finally the time has come to do the bedroom. It is a proper renovation as well, we have taken the ceiling down as it was sagging quite alarmingly and when I started to remove the plaster around the hole it was obvious the whole lot was going to have to come down. We have also removed plaster off some of the walls.
If Emma ever has to renovate her own house, she has learnt a lot this week. General labouring, removing hundreds of nails and then reboarding over what can only be loosely described as joists which are just basically recycled bits of wood holding the ceiling up some of which are sagging don’t run in a straight line and are of different widths.
I am too ashamed to share “before and after” pics so you are going to get during and after!
