First Holiday Post Lockdown

We finally had a week away during the May half term. It was so nice to get away at last. I have to be honest the last 15 months have been tolerable for us and we have been far more fortunate than many people. However, it really did enrich the soul to get away and see and explore new places and it was so nice to head to the north of England, a part of the country that is so important to me.

We had a lovely week staying in a converted chapel in Cloughton, North East Yorkshire. We spent the week walking, mainly on the Cleveland Way which goes from Helmsley to Saltburn-By-The-Sea which is just south of Scarborough.

Cycling the Cinder Trail

These two photos I took when I cycled upto Whitby on The Cinder Trail which is a 21 mile cycling/walking trail from Scarborough to Whitby.

Walking near Scalby Nabs
These two pictures I took when ewer walked a 12 mile route planned by Emma to get her Gold Scout Award.

We went to this rocky beach on our final morning before we set off. The picture doesn’t really do it justice but it was a great area explore the rock pools.

It was such a nice day and there was hardly anyone about so I was able to make a sound recording. If you have a listen, I was sitting so I could hear the waves coming in but also the skylarks above the cliff behind me. About 6 minutes or so in you should hear a small fishing boat passing and the gulls following it. Its great to go to sleep to!
