Al and I had a great time cycling from Swindon to Barnstaple last weekend. We did 186 miles in three very hot days. It was great fun, although we both got really saddle sore! When we planned the route we thought, it’ll be easy, the first couple of days are pretty flat, an absolute cinch but we were so wrong, doing mile after mile along canal path which, while very scenic just absolutely causes agony in the arse region!
My favourite parts of the ride were Chew Valley which is just beautiful and has a fabulous pub “The Compton” in Compton Dando, the whole of the last day when we got into North Devon, cycled over Exmoor and descended into Barnstaple breaking speed limits as we went!
