Camping at Rockingham Farm

This weekend it was K’s Birthday and she booked us a camping weekend away at Rockinghams Farm near Layer Marney.

To make it more of an adventure we decided to cycle to the site. This was Emma’s first time she had done any cycling touring. We got loaded up Saturday afternoon and headed off. Its only 15 miles and it was a beautiful afternoon and we headed across to Aldham, down to Easthorpe and through Messing.

The campsite was great, really quiet with just a few people there . We could have had a campfire but we had booked a table at the Old Crown in Messing so once pitched the tent we headed over and had a lovely meal. Its was great fun cycling back in the dark.

On Sunday we got brekkie at a The Exchange cafe in Tiptree and then biked back on a route that K had done on a previous tour via Kelvedon and across to Great Tey.

When we got to Great Tey, the church was having a fundraiser by selling Cream teas so off course we had to stop!
