As we’ve been off this week I caught up on a few films I wanted to see:
Leviathan
A Russian film about a simple, hotheaded handyman who is being pushed out of his home by the local authorities who want his land. Well reviewed by the critics, its a tragic story, well told, but I found it to be a really dissatisfying ending.
6/10
Mad Max: Fury Road
As Mad Max of old this film continues in a future desert wasteland where gasoline and water are scarce , with Max joining forces with Imperator Furiosa to flee from cult leader Immortan Joe and his army in an armoured tanker truck, which leads to a very very lengthy road battle.
Surprisingly, this film is really well reviewed and it just a two hour chase movie which after a while you find yourself thinking “skip to the end”. However, the creativity of the war rigs and all the vehicles and costumes is amazing.
Charlize Theron looks good though and if you are after a late night, non-taxing film over a bottle of wine then this is it.
7/10
Shaun the Sheep
Shaun and the Flock have to rescue the farmer from the city after a trick to get a day off goes wrong.
This was my favourite film of the week! properly entertaining with great british humour told in in typical Aardman style.
