Gravel Rides in The Borders

Three Brethren
By the Three Brethren (there’s another one to the right!)

Had an absolutely amazing week last week cycling some Gravel Rides from Ed Shoote’s fabulous book “Gravel Rides In Scotland”

I had never visited this area before. When we’ve gone to Scotland in the past we’ve always driven through the Borders to head up to the west coast. But, having read Ed’s Book I decided to try out some of the routes. The cycling in this area is fantastic with Scotlands policy of right to roam there are loads of Gravel tracks and paths to explore. I was a kid in a sweet shop!

Hawick Castles and Railways Loop

A figure of 8 ride from Hawick with 3000ft of climbing. It was bit of a grey day with some rain but a great ride.

Newcastleton to Keilder Cross-Border Ride

Crossing the Border into England and the Keilder Forest and back into Scotland. 45 miles with just over 300ft of ascent. Such a good day!
