We had a fantastic week in the lakes, it was Emma’s first holiday and we were so lucky with the weather, after a bit of rain on Sunday we had gorgeous sunny days all week.
We got out walking every day. Emma really enjoyed herself in the carrier, she even did her first Wainright up Loughrigg Fell.
The cottage was lovely very old and quaint, we really liked it but the floorboards were so creaky upstairs, every time you took a step they really creaked and it kept waking Emma up.
For years I’ve wanted to do an early morning walk so one morning I got up at 4 and climbed High Pike. It was superb, a gorgeous, fresh, clear morning, really invigorating and it was fantastic to watch the sun rising. I was feeling so at one with nature I walked part of it wearing just my boots. Give it a try, you can’t beat standing on top of a hill on a beautiful day with nothing on, brilliant. (come on fatty, you know you want too!)
Photos on the gallery (don’t worry there’s no nude ones!)

Just think, we were here watching the sun go down behind the Southern Alps.
Paul – I dread to think what other hikers were watching the sun go down behind – naughty Shaun!!
Yes you’re right, it does sound tempting – oooo wow!
Well no wonder you looked sheepish at mums when talking about your early morning streak, I just hope that you didnt get too excited!!!!
