I bought this old Fidelity Record Player on ebay last year. Its wasn’t working at the time but after a degrease I got it running. This year, albums that I really like, ie The Black Keys, Ben Howard and Mumford & Sons, I have been buying on vinyl. I have to say the experience of listening to a vinyl album is so much more enjoyable. K bought “Babel” for my birthday and today I sat down in the summerhouse listening to it, (and the slight crackle), while reading all the lyrics and looking at the artwork on the sleeve. Much more enjoyable than a download.

Most Saturday mornings, I’d walk down to Stockport and spend hours in a shop called ’44 Records’ looking through their vinyl collection.
Downloads just don’t have the same appeal or sense of excitement/anticipation as vinyl did. You’d hear a record, think wow, that was great and then have to wait until you could afford to buy the 7″ or the album – if you were lucky! Them were the days, eh?
I’m finding that a lot of bands are still releasing their albums on vinyl. You do pay though, most of them vary from £12 to £20 although in a lot of cases you also get a download with it.
It is cool though, to get the proper sleeve, the only thing is you’ve got to be sure your going to like it if your paying that amount for it!
