This wonderful Swedish film is described as a horror film. Its actually a story of a young boys first love with a girl who just happens to be a vampire. Beautifully shot, the story is told very subtly, none of the Hollywood in your face music, jumps or black leather.
Really well acted by the two 11 year old actors, their relationship is portrayed brilliantly, really capturing Oskars feelings of first love and Eli’s need to be loved. The scenes between them are really sensitive and you always wondering if Eli is going to give in to her desire to feed or does she love Oskar enough not to….
Brilliant, and so not Hollywood.
