Great post on Kottke of Great Olympic moments. One of the best ones is of Derek Redmond who popped a hamstring in the semifinal of the 400 mtrs in the 1992 Olympics. Despite knowing he had lost the race he tried to carry on but hobbled to a halt, his father comes to his aid, barging past security, and helps Derek complete the lap leaning on his shoulder. Make sure you have a hanky before you watch it sob, sob!
