The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The Girl with the Dragon TattooJournalist, Mikael Blomkvist, having lost a libel case is offered an assignment by Henrik Vanger to write the Vanger family history as a cover for the real assignment which is to solve a “cold case”—the disappearance of Vanger’s great niece, Harriet some 40 years earlier.

During the assignment his Laptop is hacked and he discovers that Vanger had him investigated by a brilliant hacker and researcher, Lisbeth Salander, who he recruits to assist him on the case.

This is the first part of the trilogy based on the books by Stieg larsson. Having read the books I was a bit worried the story would have been dumbed down but fortunately these films are being made by the swiss and they have stayed faithful to the book. Noomi Rapace who plays Lisbeth salander captures this complex character brilliantly.

A very good adaptation but be warned the violence is pretty graphic as it was in the book.
