The Mist

The MistReally enjoyed this tense thriller/horror film. In a small town in Maine a mysterious mist rolls in and with it comes some very scary creatures. A number of people barricade themselves in the food store and although they have to fight to stop the creatures getting in its more about the the people who want to get out and what humans will do under extraordinary circumstances.

Here’s a quote from the film:

Amanda Dunfrey: You don’t have much faith in humanity, do you?
Dan Miller: None, whatsoever.
Amanda Dunfrey: I can’t accept that. People are basically good; decent. My god, David, we’re a civilized society.
David Drayton: Sure, as long as the machines are working and you can dial 911. But you take those things away, you throw people in the dark, you scare the shit out of them – no more rules…….

The creature effects are superb, with some really gory scenes and its a very good story, very different from the conventional horror film. So switch the lights off, get some munchies, a cushion to hide behind and enjoy.

K summed it up: Realistic scenario in an unrealistic setting.
