An American remake of the 2008 French film “Pour elle” anything for her. following an appeal, John Brennan’s (Crowe) wife is facing 20 years in prison for a murder she did not commit. Feeling that there is nothing else he can do he becomes obsessed with the idea of breaking her out.
I was a big fan of the original film but I heard that this was a good remake so we gave it a go and I’m glad we did because it is really good. Its a great story and you really do care about the characters which makes the final half an hour really tense. I think that this is one of Crowes best performances since he did Gladiator back in 2000 (watch his face when his wife tries to convince him she’s guilty). Its a good script, the police investigation is a bit rushed but there’s other good scenes that compensate for that. Well worth a watch, a Saturday night movie with munchies I reckon.
