A Russian film about two boys whose father returns home after a twelve year absense. He then takes the boys on a fishing trip, his motives are unclear and he has an ulterior motive for taking them to the island where they fish. But, it is the boys reaction to him and his efforts to be a father that forms the story.
The film is beautifully shot and directed and the acting, particularly Ivan Dobronravov whose plays Ivan and must only about 12 or 13 is brilliant.
This is an art film and although the story did not have me on the edge of my seat or feeling tremendously moved it is well worth watching.
