Wall-e

wall-eposter.jpgIn the 22nd century, Earth is covered in rubbish and humans have left the planet and are living in huge starliners, leaving behind compactor robots (Wall-e) to clear up the mess. After 700 years only one remains active and he meets and falls in love with a  probe robot (Eve) who has been sent to find plant life.

On discovery of plant life, Eve immediately returns to the starliner followed by wall-e and gives the plant to the captain. He knows nothing about Earth and decides to return but the ships mutinous  autopilot tries to stop him.

Its not a bad film, the animation is fantastic, the story is o.k, but I think this film is not sure who its appealing to. Its not particularly good as a kids film, (although Emma quite enjoyed it, she was shouting wheee as they flew around in space) and its not really stimulating enough for an adult film.

Quite enjoyable on a wet afternoon though,  but only:

  1. I took this kids to see this at the cinema last year. I quite enjoyed it but thought the story line was a bit lost on the little ones.

I reckon ‘In The Year 2525’ by Zager & Evans would have been a great sound-track for this movie. I used to listen to the song a lot when I was a kid. Quite thought provoking and lyrically one of the best songs ever written IMHO.
